[What you will be working on]
You will develop and deliver engaging lectures that inspire and shape the future of our students. In addition to your teaching responsibilities, you will serve as a mentor and guide, supporting students in their academic and personal growth. You will also undertake industry or consultancy projects to stay current with professional trends and evolving industry changes. Building and maintaining strong connections with industry and educational institutions is crucial. You will have opportunities for regular industry attachments or experiences to continuously update your skills, knowledge, and professional practices.
[What we are looking for]
We are seeking highly skilled engineering professionals who are keen to mentor and guide the next generation of technical experts in ITE as a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering.
- Hands-on experience: Minimum 3 years in factory equipment maintenance and operations (manufacturing or automation).
- Technical Expertise: Proficient in at least one of the following within a manufacturing environment:
- Engineering resource management with the ability to:
- Develop and manage budgets for equipment and resources.
- Optimise resource allocation for efficient and sustainable factory operations.
- Quality control with the ability to:
- Implement and maintain quality control protocols in a manufacturing environment, considering sustainable practices.
- Analyse data to identify and address quality control issues while minimising environmental impact.
- Industrial automation with a deep understanding of:
- PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) programming and troubleshooting.
- Industrial sensor applications (vibration, temperature, flow rate, etc.) for data collection and analysis to optimise resource utilisation.
- Robotics integration and maintenance in automated production lines.
- Industry Knowledge: Up-to-date with the latest advancements in automation and digital transformation technologies, including:
- Cybersecurity principles for protecting data and systems in industrial automation environments.
- Sustainability practices in manufacturing, including resource conservation and energy efficiency.
You should be trained in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics with at least 3 years of practical experience in factory equipment maintenance and operations in the manufacturing or automation sector. Possessing relevant certification in Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) will be an advantage. You should also display passion and commitment to an engineering and teaching career.
Those with good and relevant experience can look forward to Senior Lecturer or equivalent positions, with career development opportunities to leadership positions in the Colleges or Headquarters.
