What the role is
The Diploma in Psychology Studies under the School of Humanities & Social Sciences seeks a highly qualified and motivated individual for the position of Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer. The successful candidate should have strong academic training and a passion for teaching students at the Polytechnic Level, as well as adult learners. The primary responsibilities of this role will be to deliver lectures, lead seminars or tutorials, conduct and/or supervise research, participate in industry engagement activities and contribute to the academic and administrative duties of the department. For senior positions, the successful candidate will also be required to lead and organize projects and establish a networks with industry and educational institutions.
This will be a contract position.
What you will be working on
Conduct and deliver lessons to full-time diploma students and part-time adult learners in Psychology-related subjects, as well as in the specific areas of Behavioural Insights and Research Methods & Statistics.
Design, prepare and develop teaching and learning materials (for face-to-face and online learning) and assessments.
Be attuned to the latest developments in the field of Psychology, and/or Behavioural Insights.
Conduct and facilitate student-industry collaborations and take an active role in engagement with industry.
Supervise students in research projects that may be quantitative and/or qualitative in nature.
Mentor and motivate students and inspire them to actively participate in student life and developmental activities, such as local and overseas learning trips.
Provide academic and career guidance to students.
Take on additional duties as necessary (e.g. committee work and outreach events).
What we are looking for
Tertiary training in Psychology, with a focus in (a) Behavioural Insights; and (b) research methods & statistics.
Minimum three years of relevant industry experience.
A passion and genuine interest to share knowledge and interact with youths and/or adults.
Have strong industry linkages to enable collaboration and engagement with industry partners.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrate high levels of professionalism, and willingness to invest in continuous learning.
Adopt scientific and empirical perspectives in carrying out the required work (i.e., teaching, curriculum development, research and projects), and in interaction with colleagues, industry partners and students.
IT-savvy, and able to utilize learning technologies to enhance the learning of students.
