About The Role
The purpose of the internship role is to provide comprehensive legal support to the StraitsX Legal team, aiding in the launch and expansion of fintech products across Singapore and Indonesia. Interns will engage in detailed legal research, contract drafting, policy review, and compliance checks, gaining hands-on experience in a highly collaborative environment.
What You'll Do
- Conduct legal research on applicable regulatory frameworks, such as the Payment Services Act 2019 and Personal Data Protection Act 2012.
- Assist with ad-hoc legal requests, including drafting and reviewing contracts (e.g., NDAs, pricing agreements), and ensuring compliance of marketing and sales materials with regulations.
- Participate in internal meetings with stakeholders (e.g., Compliance, Products) to align on regulatory and business objectives.
- Review and update internal legal research materials and policies to maintain regulatory compliance.
- Research legal-tech solutions, particularly AI-enhanced tools, to improve the efficiency of the legal team.
- Identify emerging legal trends that may impact StraitsX and the broader payment services industry.
- Prepare internal training materials on compliance and regulatory issues for non-legal staff.
- Present findings on legal developments, updates to internal policies, and potential legal-tech integrations.
What We're Looking For
- A minimum of 2-3 months commitment
- Law undergraduate Year 2 & above OR LLM students preferred
- Students who have taken modules in financial regulation, employment law, and data protection/privacy laws - preferred but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of contract law and best practices in contract drafting and proof-reading
- Strong corporate & commercial mindset
- Excellent written English communication skills
- Strong analytical skills
- High proficiency in Google Docs & Microsoft Office Word (use of Styles, multi-numbered lists, paragraph spacings, etc.)
- Proficient in Google WorkSpace (e.g. Google Doc, Google Slides)
