UWCSEA Dover has vacancies for Library Assistants to start from October.
The Library Assistant plays a key role in fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment that aligns with UWC's mission. They manage daily library operations, including cataloguing and processing materials, assisting with inquiries, and supporting the learning community. Their contributions help create a space that nurtures curiosity and learning for students, staff, and parents.
Provide a welcoming and helpful learning environment for students across all grades, teachers, staff, and parents from different cultural backgrounds in a school library environment.
- Handle routine library tasks, including cataloguing and processing of library materials.
Help maintain the learning environment -- shelving books, pushing in chairs, monitoring student behaviour, etc.- Coordinate with different stakeholders to manage the distribution and retrieval of borrowed books and materials.
Assist Teacher Librarians with ad hoc projects.
Minimum Diploma or related qualifications in Library and Information Science (desired)
- Minimum 2 years of relevant working experience
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills- Excellent computer and internet skills
Self motivated learner who is adaptable and able to work effectively in a team
- Love of books, reading and learning
Enjoy working with students of various a ges- Positive disposition and sense of humour
Familiarity with the Follett Destiny system and Z
- 50 cataloguing (desired)
- Knowledge of childrens literature (desired)
