About The Role
We are looking for a
Logistics Operations Officer to be part of our Asia Pacific Logistics Execution
team to perform safe and timely shipments of >$2B worth of products to and from international origins
and destinations.
Based in our Singapore Commercial hub, the primary responsibility is to manage the day-to-day
operational activities, working in close collaboration with a complex stakeholder group from across
the business to deliver optimal value for the various business units.
Reporting to the Supervisor, Logistics Operations, you will
- Plan and execute shipments from the company smelters to customers in diverse locations, including placing bookings, coordination, and monitoring while minimizing freight cost, optimizing working capital, and meeting commercial requirements.
- Provide timely notification to all relevant parties on bookings and coordinate with stakeholders on subsequent changes.
- Track shipping schedules, perform all required system-related updates, and resolve issues that may affect shipping, vessel slippage risk, and customer deliveries.
- Act as the primary escalation point of contact for all operational issues raised by both internal and external stakeholders.
- Process freight payments and resolve any payment disputes with vendors timely.
- Ensure completeness of accrual of freight cost at the end month.
- Develop and manage relationships with vendors such as shipping lines, 3PLs, and internal stakeholders.
- Investigate and handle claims relating to transportation and shipping.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects, identify any process gaps, and propose improvement initiatives to reduce costs and/or improve service levels.
- Participate in performance-related meetings and provide constructive feedback where relevant.
- Adhere to Rio Tinto logistics existing policies and system requirements at all times.
- Create a Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) culture within Rio Tinto logistics ensuring all activities comply with Rio Tinto standards.
About You
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have
- Degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Commerce, or related field.
- At least 5 years of related experience in supply chain/logistics.
- A team player, autonomous and self-driven.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
- Determined problem solver with a high level of attention to details, strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Solid time management skill and ability to prioritize workload in a changing environment and within tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Exposure to SAP systems will also be beneficial.
- Experience with project cargo will be an added advantage.
