Job Title: Long-Haul Lorry Driver
Location: Singapore and cross-border routes in Malaysia
Overview:
Seeking a Long-Haul Lorry Driver for strenuous, high-demand shifts with limited support. You will be responsible for intense cross-border transport operations, often under challenging conditions with minimal breaks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Extended Hours: Drive the maximum allowable hours under Singapore's Employment Act, often extending across late nights and early mornings. Route schedules are tight, with no flexibility.
- Cross-Border Hauls: Frequent trips into Malaysia with potential for long customs delays and unpredictable traffic. Travel conditions may be uncomfortable and are subject to border inspection wait times, which can add hours to your shift.
- Self-Managed Loading and Unloading: Loading and unloading heavy goods at each destination is required, as we do not provide assistants or equipment. You are expected to complete this within your working hours, which may impact your driving time.
- Paperwork and Reporting: Detailed, tedious logging of hours, vehicle condition, delivery documents, and cross-border declarations are expected without dedicated administrative support.
- Vehicle Upkeep: Regular maintenance checks and minor repairs to the vehicle during each shift, regardless of working hours. Repairs are often self-funded and reimbursed later, if approved.
- Customer Service: Expected to manage customer complaints independently on delivery-related issues, including delays or incomplete orders, even when these are beyond your control.
Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of driving experience with a Class 4 or 5 driving license in Singapore. Must be comfortable with extensive cross-border trips and have thorough knowledge of Malaysian roads.
- Skills: Ability to work under pressure with limited managerial support. Good physical condition for loading and unloading heavy goods. Basic knowledge of vehicle troubleshooting.
- Additional Licensing: Must hold valid permits for cross-border transport. Reimbursement for any license renewals is not provided.
