We are looking for a detail-oriented Manager to manage our University Archives preservation, records management, and digital repository operations, while also supporting broader library operations related to collection management and research outputs. This role will ensure the long-term accessibility and integrity of our archival and library collections while navigating copyright issues and supporting the university's mission.
Key Responsibilities
Preservation and Records Management
- Develop and implement preservation plans for both physical and digital materials in adherence to university policies.
- Manage and maintain the digital repository system for archival materials and institutional research outputs, ensuring long-term access, data integrity and security
- Establish and enforce metadata standards for the description and cataloging of archival and library resources, ensuring consistency and interoperability
- Conduct copyright assessments for archival and library materials and ensure operational compliance with intellectual property laws and regulations
Archival & Library Operations Support
- Assist in curating archival materials for exhibitions and public events, contributing to the development of engaging historical and educational presentations
- Support outreach programs aimed at increasing public awareness of the university's archives and library collections, including participation in workshops and educational initiatives
- Support documentation of SIT history such as oral history or video recording.
- Acquire library materials in all formats and manage vendor negotiations for subscribed resources, including the review of license agreements
- Provide reference assistance and instruction at the service desk and instruction sessions, and work alongside colleagues in assisting students, faculty, university community, and other researchers with the archival and discovery of library resources appropriate for their research needs.
- Supervise student assistants and participate in Library projects and events.
- Serve on committees and groups related to University Archives.
Job Requirements:
- Master's degree in library and information sciences or archival studies, or degree in a relevant discipline with applicable experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in archives, libraries or records management.
- Experience with digital repository systems, institutional repositories, and archival/library metadata standards
- Demonstrated knowledge of the legal and regulatory issues involved in institutional archives or records management.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Evidence of ability to organize and analyze information, set priorities, manage projects and meet deadlines, and work collaboratively alongside team members.
