Position Overview:
- We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Communications and Fundraising Manager to join our team. This role is integral to promoting the mission of SDSC, enhancing our visibility, and securing the necessary resources to support our programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing effective communication strategies, as well as planning and executing fundraising initiatives.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Fundraising (60%):
- Develop and execute fundraising campaigns, including online fundraising, events, and donor outreach.
- Identify and cultivate relationships with potential donors, sponsors, and partners.
- Prepare grant proposals and reports to secure funding from various sources, including government agencies, foundations, and corporate sponsors.
- Manage donor databases, ensuring accurate records of contributions and interactions.
- Organize and oversee fundraising events, ensuring they align with SDSC's mission and goals.
- Collaborate with the finance team to track fundraising progress and ensure transparency and accountability.
Communications (20%):
- Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies to enhance SDSC's public image and outreach efforts.
- Create press releases, media kits, and other materials to engage with the media and public.
- Coordinate and manage public relations activities, including media relations, press conferences, and promotional events.
- Monitor and analyze communication metrics to assess the effectiveness of strategies and make data-driven decisions.
Strategic Planning (20%):
- Work with the executive team to develop long-term communication and fundraising strategies aligned with SDSC's mission and vision.
- Stay updated with industry trends and best practices to continuously improve SDSC's communication and fundraising efforts.
- Provide regular reports to the executive team and board of directors on communication and fundraising activities and outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in communications, fundraising, or a related role, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
- Proven track record in developing and executing successful communication and fundraising strategies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects and deadlines.
- Willingness to go the extra mile, including working weekends and after hours when necessary.
