Position Description:


TMMG is seeking a mechanical engineer with experience working in the marine industry familiar with the rules and regulation associated with Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Saving of Life At Sea (SOLAS), American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and U.S. Coast Guard (USCG). Candidates must have a minimum of six (6) months in one or combination of the following areas:

a. Direct support of repair activities and development ship alterations such as tracking of
work in maintenance availabilities, developing and/or reviewing ships alterations.
b. Supporting the ship management teams during maintenance availabilities conducted on
ships at a repair activity such as a shipyard.
c. Have supported the development of alterations in their field of expertise.

Duties:

Develop ship alteration packages including work items, drawings, and independent cost estimates.
Review and update work packages for modernization activities.
Conduct ship-checks.
Analyze data, perform studies, and develop technical reports for material readiness on marine and mechanical systems.
Support analysis and design of fluid systems, steam main propulsion, diesel generators, auxiliary systems, HVAC, deck machinery, modeling of mechanical systems, and other marine and mechanical engineering functions.
Attend shipyard availabilities for extended periods to support Condition Found Reports (CFR) review, support Request for Proposal development, attend inspections develop inspection reports, attend daily and weekly production meetings, develop completion estimates for tasking and update schedule adherence, and other shipyard support activities for the service life extension program.
This is a contractor position compensated on an hourly basis for supporting activities. Must be able to climb tall ladders, crawl tanks/bilges in confined spaces, inspect from aerial lifts, and work in adverse environments for long periods. Periodically lift up to 50 pounds and be able to walk to/from job sites.
During shipyard support activities, work hours will exceed 40 hours per week and work is required seven days per week.

Education/Certification Requirements:

BS in Mechanical or Marine Engineering.
5 years experience in Marine or Naval engineering.
