Job Scope
Reporting to Director of Pastoral Care, the incumbent is responsible for planning, organising and coordinating various ministry activities to provide emotional, social and spiritual support to our members and worshippers in their times of need.
Responsibilities
Execute an effective system of providing pastoral care and support to members at times of bereavement, prolonged illness and other life crises.
Coordinate and conduct hospital and homebound visitations
Recruit, train and work alongside co-workers who are serving in the pastoral care ministry
Provide direction to couples in their church wedding preparations and ensure that they adhere to PLMCs guidelines for solemnisation and blessing of marriage
Work closely with pastors and staff to ensure that wedding services run smoothly and according to plan
Assist to coordinate with pastors and bereaved families for wake and funeral arrangements, and conduct wake services
Provide regular updates of the churchs pastoral needs and prayer concerns to members in a timely manner
Requirements
Theological diploma/degree, or equivalent
At least 1 year of relevant experience in church setting and/or pastoral care ministry
A team player, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Possess a shepherds heart and desire to provide care for people at their point of need
An independent worker, with strong organisational skills
Comfortable working on weekends and non-conventional hours
