NPI Process Engineer
Responsibilities
- Responsible for setting up and optimizing manufacturing processes, implementing quality control measures, and driving process improvements, including jig design and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
- Ensuring efficient and cost-effective manufacturing solutions, working closely with cross-functional teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Manufacturing Setup & Optimization: Develop and implement manufacturing processes and quality control measures.
- Use techniques such as Value Stream Mapping (VSM) to design optimized manufacturing concepts that maximize resource efficiency.
- Design for Assembly (DFA): Incorporate DFA principles into the manufacturing process to simplify assembly, reduce components, and streamline operations to lower overall product manufacturing costs.
- Work Instructions & Testing: Create work instructions, testing procedures, and inspection checklists for critical quality measurements. Define test parameters and collaborate with the tester design team to develop appropriate testing solutions.
- Process Improvements: Design jigs to enhance assembly efficiency and critical alignments. Explore alternative tools, such as smart tools and ergonomic fixtures, to improve manufacturing practices.
- Prototype & Pre-Series Build Support: Actively participate in prototype builds and pre-series activities. Provide feedback and collaborate with stakeholders to resolve issues and improve processes.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with project managers, supplier quality, quality management, production, and service teams. Review and approve Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and ensure successful implementation.
- Lead knowledge transfer between manufacturing sites, ensuring successful setup of production capabilities, tester readiness, technical knowledge transfer, and production layout.
- Audit & Compliance: Act as the internal auditor for ISO45001, preparing for external audits and representing the NPI process engineering team during recertification audits.
Requirements
- Minimum Degree in Mechanical, Electronic, or Electrical Engineering, in manufacturing or automation environment.
- Strong technical background and expertise across various engineering and design disciplines.
- Proficiency in Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA), process engineering, data analysis techniques such as RCA and 5 Why, mechanical and electrical design knowledge, as well as software and CAD proficiency. Experience in 3D prototyping is also essential.
- Desirable skills include strong decision-making and time management abilities, basic project coordination experience, and risk assessment expertise.
- The candidate should be able to provide training and demonstrate leadership and management capabilities.
- Familiarity with supply chain management, programming, industrial engineering, automation, big data, and Industry 4.0 knowledge will be advantageous.
