An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented and collaborative individual with a passion for digital media to join Rakuten Vikis global legal team based in Singapore. We are looking for a part-time Paralegal (2-3 days per week, specific days flexible) who is pro-active, resourceful, detail-oriented, analytical, a strong team player, possesses strong organisational, interpersonal, and cross-cultural communication skills, and has the ability to work cross-functionally and effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. This role follows a hybrid work arrangement.
Responsibilities:
Support and maintain research into content compliance (video content, user-generated content), consumer protection, privacy, and advertising/marketing regulations and best practices in Rakuten Vikis key markets around the world
Assist with improving and maintaining Rakuten Vikis in-house contract management system (for execution, filing and organisation of contracts, legal templates, policies and registers)
Assist with development and organisation of an efficient system to consolidate legal advice for the business
Support the business on a breadth of contract and internal compliance matters related to Rakuten Vikis worldwide business operations, including assisting with any ongoing internal audits
Requirements:
Minimum 3 years of legal education
Resourceful in conducting desktop research and research on specific platforms (such as Westlaw, LexisNexis and textbooks) on regulations and best practices worldwide
English fluency
Comfortable working with international teams, and across job functions and levels
Self-motivated, proactive attitude, and willingness to take ownership of tasks
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, etc.)
Preferred Qualification:
Interest in media (specifically Asian entertainment), OTT, intellectual property and/or technology licensing
Demonstrated ability to understand legal, risk and business impacts to contract language
Basic understanding of contract interpretation
Experience in contract lifecycle management systems (such as Google Drive) and tools
Strong project and people management skills with the ability to build relationships and collaborate with multiple stakeholders
Sound logical thinking and problem-solving skills
Interest in compliance (such as privacy, accessibility and consumer affairs)
- Note this role is a fixed term contractor role for 2024 (start ASAP) and may be extended for a further duration.
