Job Description

Established in 1972, Dover Court International School in Singapore is a leading inclusive international school with British heritage, serving international families, set on a green 12-acre site about 20 minutes from the Singapore CBD. Dover Court International School is a community with inclusion at its heart. In our Early Years we use a Reggio Emilia inspired approach. In Primary we are guided by the National Curriculum for England and the International Primary Curriculum. In Secondary we have IGCSE/GCSE, the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and International BTEC qualifications. We also offer courses that focus on English, mathematics, life skills and employability through ASDAN programmes.

All students are involved in a wide range of co-curricular activities, mainly run by teaching staff. Resulting in a rich and varied co-curricular offer for our students, with our school active and competitive in the local international school sports league across a number of sports. The school has an extensive programme of residential trips starting in Year 3 up to the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award in Secondary.

We are also members of the Federation of British International Schools in Asia (FOBISIA) and are accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

Job Description

We are looking for outstanding and inspirational Primary Teacher initially for a Maternity Cover starting in November 2024 and running to April 2025. There may be further opportunities beyond this date.

The right candidate will have an enthusiasm for high quality teaching and learning, with an ability to meet individual needs within our inclusive community.

The successful candidate will build positive relationships and demonstrate excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills when working in partnership with parents, staff and the children themselves. They will be committed to taking on the role of a full-time class teacher, collaborating with a dynamic and professional team of practitioners.

Job Responsibilities

Planning, Teaching and Learning

Maximise Learning By

  • Creating a safe and respectful learning environment for all;
  • Inspiring students to be passionate, curios, exited learners;
  • Develop effective approaches to learning in students;
  • Monitoring, evaluatiing and developing teaching;
  • Identifying and supporting individual learning needs, liasing with EAL and Learning Support specialists when appropriate;
  • Effectively promoting home learning and co-curricular learning opportunities.
  • Establishing a purposely and safe learning environment;
  • Using technology to enhance and transform personalised learning opportunities.

Tracking, Assessment, Recording, Reporting

  • Make effective use of assessment to plan challenging learning opportunites for all students;
  • Collect and use meaning data to enhance teaching and learning;
  • Monitor and record students learning to ensure they remain on track to achieve challenging targets;
  • Report on progress to students, colleagues and parents.

Student Care and Guidance

  • Establish a safe, purposeful learning environment for all students;
  • Promote the progress and well-being of all stuidents;
  • Contribute to the preparation of action plans and other support mechanisms;
  • Alert appropriate staff to problems experienced by students and make recommendations as to how these maybe resolved;
  • Communicate effectively with parents of students, and liaise with other staff.

Person Specification

Qualifications/Training

  • Qualified bachelor degree or above
  • Recognised teaching qualification for Primary age students

Skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to engage students and enable them to perform highly
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Strong use of ICT for administration and teaching

  • Compliance with visa requirements for working in Singapore
