This is a 6 month contract role, with the possibility of conversion to a full-time role at the end of the contract period.
Possibility for conversion will depend on business needs, as well as individual performance during the contract period.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Senior Production Manager to manage the product creation process from initial concept through to commercialisation and production for assigned models, lead on-time delivery and development according to critical dates, product specification, sustainability and profitability goals
- Work with product development team to plan product realisation timelines, making sure there are adequate resources available for projects in the production calendar
- Track and facilitate sampling and prototyping for assigned group of products (blindbox items); identify and address key issues and challenges in production / assembly, and respond accordingly to deliver high-quality products
- Check in with our China-based team on updates on the product testing process, to ensure all finished goods meet country-specific product integrity requirements
- Working cross functionally with our Creative, Sales & Marketing, Licensing and Logistics departments, as well as manufacturing partners to effectively execute on product development goals and deliverables
- Working with our China-based team to solve issues that crop up during production
- Partner with our Creative Team to offer advisory, options, and costing details on materials selection for assigned group of products, to balance design intent and margin targets
- Thoroughly evaluate and approve samples of assigned group of products to proceed to production
- Drive industry benchmarking studies for the brand when seeking improvements for our products
Requirements
- Prior working experience in a related industry (Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials-related (plastics specifically)) would be beneficial
- Prior experience as a project manager, or in project-related roles would be favourable
- Strong project management and problem-solving skills
- Good understanding of production calendars and the purpose and expectations of each key gate
- Knowledge of how the supply chain works and the process different functions go through during the product creation cycle
- A team player, with excellent organisational and follow-up skills
- Ability to draft clear and concise written communication
- Comfort communicating in Mandarin with our team in China - to ensure that production issues can be resolved smoothly and in a timely manner
- An understanding of toys / consumer products (plastics) production, materials, and manufacturing processes would be a bonus
