About the Role:
We are seeking a talented Public Affairs Manager to join our Global Public Affairs team. You will be responsible for formulating, organising, executing, and communicating strategic public policy programmes, initiatives, and positions to support the business, as well as provide thought leadership across a range of key policy issues, including but not limited to technology, entertainment, and intellectual property. Your principal focus will be on Southeast Asia, but you may be required to work on cross-cutting issues and projects across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. The role is based in Singapore.
You will work in a fast paced, global business environment. Having a collaborative and inquisitive attitude is key, along with a passion for technology and its impact on people and society. Excellent analytical, communication, and organisational skills are crucial for success in this role.
- Craft and execute public affairs strategies and engagements relevant to Tencent's policy and business priorities;
- Engage governments, regulators, and policymakers to identify partnership opportunities, advocate for issues relevant to Tencent, and support business growth and operations;
- Provide insights into Southeast Asia's policy trends and developments that have an impact on Tencent's business. This includes reviewing and analysing legislation, as well as drafting policy position papers;
- Work collaboratively with and leverage the expertise of the Global Public Affairs, Legal, and Business teams to ensure alignment with Tencent's goals and objectives;
- Engage and work closely with industry partners, trade associations, experts, and other organisations to support business and industry positions;
- Represent Tencent at conferences, panel discussions, and other events, and support executive engagements; and
- At all times, work with honesty, integrity, and authenticity across cultures and in line with Tencent's values and mission.
Who We Look For
- At least 6 years of experience working on technology policy issues within government, corporates, think tanks, consultancy firms, or relevant trade associations.
- In-depth understanding of the Southeast Asia and broader APAC policy environment.
- Collaborative and able to work well both as part of a team and independently in a global and multi-cultural environment. Having a good sense of humour helps!
- Excellent communication skills and ability to present and explain complex concepts and technical details effectively to internal and external stakeholders.
- Superb organisational and time management skills to execute complex projects in an effective and timely manner.
- Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership to deliver impactful projects.
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal. Additional language skills (including Bahasa Indonesia, Bahasa Melayu, Thai, Japanese, Korean, or Mandarin) a plus.
- May require travel to Southeast Asia and/or APAC markets.
