Programme Leader in Public Policy with Emeritus in collaboration with NUS Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (Freelance & Online)

About Programme Leader:

The Programme Leader is a subject matter expert and shapes the student experience, guiding students through their learning journey. Candidates must have industry experience, demonstrated knowledge of the programme subject area, strong interpersonal skills, and previous experience in teaching, mentoring or any other instructional role.

This is a contractor position for 8 weeks.

Course Description:

The Public Policy Programme from NUS Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy offers a unique understanding of frameworks, processes, implementations, and evaluation strategies for effective policy making in the changing and challenging social, political, economic conditions. The Programme enables learning of comprehensive coverage of all aspects related to the overall cycle of Public Policy design and implementation. Also, participants will learn to implement hands-on elements like impact assessment, preparing policy memos briefs.

Responsibilities of the Programme Leader include but are not limited to:

  • Facilitation of Interactive Live Webinars:

Utilize various instructional techniques and multimedia resources to ensure effective delivery of course material.

Foster a collaborative and inclusive learning environment conducive to student engagement and knowledge retention.

  • Student Support and Engagement:

Monitor student discussions and forums, actively engaging with participants to address queries, concerns, and facilitate meaningful dialogue.

Respond promptly to individual and group inquiries regarding program content, assignments, and related topics, demonstrating a commitment to student success and satisfaction.

Offer guidance and support to students, serving as a resource for academic and professional development throughout the duration of the Programme.

  • Collaborative Problem Solving:

Work closely with the Emeritus team to identify and address program-related challenges, leveraging collective expertise to implement effective solutions.

Participate in regular meetings and discussions to assess program performance, share insights, and strategize initiatives for program enhancement and optimization.

  • Continuous Improvement Initiatives:

Proactively identify opportunities for program improvement, suggesting modifications and enhancements to enhance the overall learning experience.

Collaborate with stakeholders to refine course content, instructional materials, and delivery methods, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and emerging trends.

To succeed in this role as a Programme Leader you will need:

Professional Experience

  • Policy Expertise: At least 10-15 years of hands-on experience in public policy, governance, or related areas within government, international organizations, research institutions, or the private sector.
  • Leadership Roles: Demonstrable experience in senior leadership or advisory roles, including collaboration with high-level government officials, NGOs, and cross-sector stakeholders to design, implement, and evaluate policy initiatives.
  • Global and Regional Insight: Strong understanding of policy issues and frameworks in both a global and APAC context, particularly those relevant to economic policy, public governance, social equity, and international development.

Skills and Competencies

  • Mentorship Abilities: Proven track record of guiding, mentoring, and inspiring students or junior professionals, with an ability to translate complex policy concepts into accessible and practical insights.
  • Analytical Acumen: Strong analytical and research skills, with experience in data-driven decision-making, impact evaluation, and policy analysis.
  • Communication Excellence: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a talent for conveying policy insights in a clear, compelling manner.

Preferred Attributes

  • Practical Exposure: Prior experience as a guest lecturer, mentor, or adjunct faculty in a leading academic or professional institution is advantageous.
  • Networked Professional: Established connections within the policy community, government bodies, think tanks, or industry forums to provide students with insights into real-world public policy challenges and solutions.
  • Thought Leadership: Published work in reputable journals, policy briefings, or conference presentations showcasing their impact and contributions to public policy.

Educational Background

  • Advanced degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Economics, International Relations, Law, or a closely related field from a recognized institution. A Ph.D. or equivalent is highly preferred.
