The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects. This includes ensuring that building projects are completed within budget and to the highest standards of quality and efficiency. The role involves cost planning, cost management, procurement advice, and contract administration
_Cost Management and Estimation_
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for projects, including materials, labour, and other expenses.
Monitor project costs and keep track of variations to the original budget.
- Provide advice on the cost implications of various design options and changes.
_Contract Administration_
- Prepare and analyze tender documents and contracts.
Negotiate contracts with contractors and subcontractors.- Administer contracts and ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
_Procurement_- Develop procurement strategies and manage the procurement process.
Source and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors for goods and services.
- Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery schedules.
_Risk Management_
- Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
Prepare risk assessments and manage project risk registers.
_Project Coordination_- Work closely with architects, engineers, and other construction professionals.
Coordinate with clients, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met.
- Conduct site visits to monitor progress and ensure adherence to project specifications and standards.
_Financial Reporting_
- Prepare regular financial reports, including cost forecasts, cash flows, and budget variance analysis
Conduct post-project cost analysis and reporting.
- Qualifications and Skills
Diploma / Bachelors degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related field.- Experience minimum of 3 years of experience in quantity surveying, cost management, or a similar role in the construction industry.
Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and legal regulations.
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
Strong negotiation and communication skills.- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Office-based with regular site visits.
