R&D Partnerships Lead & iGM Allergy Asia
JOB PURPOSE
As R&D Partnerships Lead Asia, they are responsible for identifying and delivering external innovation solutions for the Asia Pipeline. They are accountable for building and maintaining a network of external partners to source or co-develop technologies, products and services to meet the needs of the Asia consumers and customers.
R&D Innovation General Manager (iGM) Allergy Asia is the R&D innovation architect for the Asia Allergy Category Team. They define and deliver the innovation pipeline in partnership with the category team with end-to-end accountability for all R&D development needs. They mobilize the resources across the R&D system needed to deliver their innovation pipeline and category team outcomes. The R&D iGM is responsible for the co-creation of the innovation strategy based on a strong understanding of consumer insights, science and technology & opportunities for growth.
YOUR TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
R&D Partnerships Lead Asia
- Partnerships:
They architect and own the partnership network in order to deliver on the innovation needs of the Asia Business across all types of innovation.
They make new and foster existing partnerships with the aim of bringing the best solutions to Bayer and ensuring Bayer is a partner of choice.
They coach the Asia R&D and Commercial teams on partnership engagement & opportunities.
They are the key R&D partner for procurement & BD&Lworking closely to turn ideas into actional development programs.
- Customer & Consumer:
The Partnership Lead services the Asia Consumer and Customer by partnering with the iGMs to understand the business needs in order to deliver external solutions which fit the regions innovation requirements across all brands.They have a strong consumer/customer & technical understanding which enables them to proactively source all types of innovation from emerging science to fully developed products.
They source and co-develop products with consumer advantage.
- Delivery:
The partnership lead is accountable for delivering external innovation solutions to meet the needs of the Asia pipeline. They partner with the Asia R&D iGMs, PS and Procurement to decide which programs should be externally sourced. They provide initial scientific evaluations of external technologies and solutions and often lead due diligence.They partner with the iGMs and platform squad to architect external innovation delivery teams to deliver innovation to market.They act as a catalyst for external development programs finding solutions to technical and relationship challenges.
R&D Innovation General Manager (iGM) Allergy Asia
Innovation:
Architects the innovation strategy for the Asia Allergy Category Team, defining and accessing the capabilities needed to deliver the pipeline including working closely with the global technical community, external partners, local commercial team and matrixed functions (medical, regulatory, DPX).
Ideates around claims, new products and licensable hardware to maintain a sufficient pipeline of innovation that satisfies consumer and customer needs grounded in medical and consumer insights.
Develops scientific insight and initiates new innovation projects together with the category teams, always seeking opportunities for scale across the globe. Together with their category team members is accountable for innovation sufficiency, both short and long term.
Owns the product innovation strategy together with the category team leader.
Delivery:
Leads with technical expertise to the initiation, scoping and best technical path/strategy for New Products, Services & Claims innovation including existing formulas roll-out, modifications of existing formulas and new developments.
Initiates projects to build a best-in-class pipeline, driving execution of approved projects.
Drives the development of Target Product Profile (TPP) and supports to the Technical Project Leaders for pipeline execution.
Delivers their innovation pipeline end-to-end - effectively leveraging the global R&D squads and external partnerships.
Prioritizes and makes decisions in partnership with their category teams and enterprise Category squads on pipeline, resources, and budget.
Is a catalyst for project risks and challenges - solving problems and removing roadblocks.
Consumer/Customer:
Knows the consumer, customers, market, category and competitive landscape to deliver advantage.
Knows the science of the category, current solutions and their shortcomings and unmet medical needs.
Uses scientific storytelling to bring innovation to life for both internal stakeholders and consumers/customers.

Embraces DSO leadership principles providing coaching to the CH technical community.
Builds their global iGM and partnership lead communities to catalyze global innovation scale and efficiencies and informing the platform community of technology platform priorities.
WHO YOU ARE:
Required: Bachelor's Degree (or international equivalent) in a STEM related field.
A proven track record of delivering consumer inspired and science based innovation (products, claims & services) in the Consumer Health or Consumer Goods Industry from ideation to launch.
Preferred: Significant experience in Consumer Health / FMCG innovation (12+ years experience (or Masters degree with 10+ years, or PhD with 8+ years).
Passion for Consumer inspired innovation and understanding of market dynamics in Asia and the Allergy category.
A creative mind who comes up with compelling ideas for innovation.
Demonstrated ability to establish and foster powerful external technology partnerships
Curiosity with experience in bringing emerging and innovative ideas to development pipelines
Technical capabilities to convert marketing concepts to products that are grounded in science, meet the medical and consumer needs and are differentiated vs competition.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, including managing conflict, building psychological safety, challenging status quo, and willingness to stand up for beliefs.
Ability to work with and influence all levels in the organization.

Experience in delivering results through others in an ambiguous and matrixed environment.
Knowledge of the complexities of development in the consumer health sector including a strong understanding of product research, regulatory, medical & supply chain
Ability to lead a team through all the necessary steps of project scoping, assessing feasibility and initiation of development. A doer who can plan and execute the plan.
