The National University of Singapore invites applications for Research Assistants to join our projects in the Department of Diagnostic Radiology, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Our projects are primarily focused on exploring the role of neuroimaging in the clinic, facilitated by quantitative analysis including machine learning, with a focus on neurodegenerative diseases (e.g. Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease), with a small focus on brain tumor imaging. The primary responsibilities of the Research Assistant will revolve around data management and administrative tasks, as described below:
Database management and basic analysis:
- Download and integrate imaging and other non-imaging data into our research database.
- Perform basic neuroimaging processing and analysis using our existing R / Python pipeline. The role could extend to pipeline customization if the RA shows an interest and aptitude for image analysis work.
- The role could extend to basic statistical analysis and machine learning tasks using pre-built code, under the guidance of the PI and AI expert research staff, if the RA shows interest and aptitude for the above tasks.
Administrative tasks:
- Assist with ethical application processes for access to public datasets such as UK Biobank, ADNI, etc. and ensure compliance with institutional/university IRB procedures.
- Provide general administrative and secretarial support to the project, such as coordinating meetings, procurement, etc.
Assist in the preparation of scientific documents:
- Conduct literature searches, assist in the preparation of manuscripts, grant proposals/reports, and other scientific documents under the direct supervision of the PI.
Interested candidates should: (a) Have an undergraduate degree with good grades or a Master's degree in life sciences, engineering, or related fields preferably, but not required, with some experience in dry lab or imaging research (b) Have basic programming skills in R and Python (ability to use code written by others under guidance) (c) Have fluent oral & written communication skill (d) Demonstrate the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and show investigative tendencies and attention to detail.
