Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and experienced Research/Programme Manager to join the Centre for Holistic Initiatives (CHILD) for Learning and Development, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. CHILD brings together experts in the field of translational research, child health and development, and implementation science to accelerate the use of evidence in policy and practice and give every child the best start in life.

The successful candidate will support the Centre by overseeing and managing our research programme goals, activities and timelines towards CHILD's strategy and mission.

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Work closely with the CHILD management team, cross-disciplinary research team members, collaborators and stakeholders from across the early childhood sector.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and organise CHILD's research programme to support its strategic direction and mission.
  • Lead the development of research budgets for the CHILD programme and individual projects, including existing grants and future funding bids, such that the research and project work can be delivered efficiently and on time.
  • Monitor research progress, and identify and implement project management interventions to keep research activities on track.
  • Plan and monitor research design, data collection, data storage, documentation and reporting in line with the highest ethical standards and Institutional Review Board (IRB) requirements.
  • Oversee project teams, staff allocation, budgeting and procurement processes to support programme productivity and continuity.
  • Prepare and coordinate reports on programme progress for a variety of audiences.
  • Regularly communicate with the CHILD management team and stakeholders, internal and external (e.g., relevant Government Ministries).

Qualifications

Qualifications: A Masters or PhD in Psychology/Behavioral Science/Developmental Psychology/Education/Public Health or any discipline related to child development.

Experience

Experience: Candidates with the following skills and experience are encouraged to apply:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of project/programme management experience with the ability to juggle and complete multiple projects with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting the full cycle of Institutional Review Board activities, from application, management, documentation and reporting for studies involving human participants.
  • Ability to write, edit, and produce reports and other formal documents of communication.
  • Ability to produce, manage and understand financial documents, particularly in the context of research grants.
  • Successful management and coordination of research staff, including research assistants, students and interns.
  • Excellent organisation and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and project management tools.
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English.
  • A team player with an ability to work independently.
  • Highly motivated, proactive, and goal-oriented.
  • Keen interest in the area of early child development and passion for research translation and communication will be advantageous.
