The Laboratory of Surgical System & Service Innovation (3SI) is a multi-disciplinary laboratory that provides a platform for cutting-edge surgical health services research that informs healthcare systems, policies, and programs to provide high-value, patient centered care for patients and their families undergoing surgery.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic, meticulous, and responsible Research Coordinator to work closely with a team of experienced researchers and the clinical team in health system, services innovation, and novel surgical technologies research. You will be part of a holistic clinical and health services research team whose mission is to improve clinical outcomes for seriously ill patients undergoing major surgery.
Main Responsibilities
1. Institutional Review Board (IRB)
- Prepare and submit IRB applications, amendments, continuing reviews, and study closures
- Stay up to date with local and international research ethics regulations
2. Data Collection, Management, Analysis
- Gathering data from various sources and organizing it for analysis
- Performing statistical and data analysis techniques to generate insights from the data
- Data quality control - Ensuring accuracy and completeness of data through data validation and cleaning
3. Presentations & Data Visualization
- Analysis Report Generation: Producing reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations
- Data Visualization: Creating visual representations of data to effectively communicate insights
- Preparation of presentation slides and posters for submission to local and international conferences
4. Patient recruitment & consent
- Patient recruitment for involvement in value-based healthcare projects
- Qualitative interviews of patients and their families
5. Source materials for grant writing and ethics application
- Help to source for references and materials for grants preparation of ethics application
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., life sciences, public health, research administration, nursing, ethics)
- Prior experience in research administration or IRB-related work will be an added advantage
- Interest in scientific research and willing to engage in various aspects of the research processes
- Proficient computer knowledge (MS Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Good interpersonal skills
- Passionate about clinical and health service research to bring about positive impact to patients with advanced cancers
- Learns fast and good team player
- Able to work independently and interactively in a team setting, with excellent collaborative and interpersonal skills
