Job Description

We are currently seeking a proficient Researcher to join our scientific team at our newly established R&D site in Singapore, in a role that combines project/experiment planning with laboratory-based work.

Job Purpose

The Singapore Tropic's team is dedicated to pioneering an inventive gene editing technology platform, situated at the convergence of molecular biology, microbiology, host-pathogen interactions, and mammalian cell biology. We are currently seeking a proficient Researcher to join our scientific team at our newly established R&D site in Singapore. This role is tailored for a dynamic scientist from academia seeking to transition into industry or an accomplished individual with a demonstrated history of success in the biotechnology sector.

Responsibilities

Help in building our lab and R&D capabilities in our new site in Singapore
Drive the project(s) for the Singapore site, strong focus on bench work
Working to a defined scientific plan and facilitating successful outcomes
Work with other departments (Bioinformatics, Molecular teams etc.) across different time zones (UK-Singapore)
Planning, execution, analysis (including statistics) and reporting on experiments to the highest standards
Train, supervise and plan work for technicians (in the future), with the potential to line manage members of your technical team, depending on experience
Present and report results to key stakeholders in the company, including senior management

Requirements

Educational background

PhD in a relevant field + postdoc/industry experience OR
A Bsc/Msc in a relevant field with a strong record of delivery within the Biotechnology industry, preferably with 5 years of experience

Excellent team player with professional, effective communication
Managing collaborator relationships and projects

Technical competencies

Gene editing technologies (CRISPR-Cas systems) and application (Genome editing)
Hands-on and demonstrable expertise in molecular biology
Host-pathogen interactions (not as critical)
Expertise in microbiology and mammalian cell culture is advantageous
Experimental design, execution and data analysis
Presentation of reports to a high standard
