Scientist/Senior Scientist, System Science, IHPC

Simulation Scientist:

We are looking for a simulation expert who will be part of the team developing a next-generation mobility simulation platform using an agent-based modelling approach. The platform is envisioned to be integrated with other modelling & simulation systems under a digital twin strategy. The responsibilities may include any of the following:

• Develop simulation modules for the agent-based simulator.
• Design and implement simulation scenarios.
• Develop behavioural rules for the simulation agents.
• Implement real-world dynamics including physical motion laws, power-flow, scheduling, and operational constraints as needed.
• Design, calibrate and validate simulation models.
• Optimise the performance of the simulation.
• Write research papers and present at conferences and communicate to project collaborators

Education and experience requirements:

• Ph.D. degree in a related discipline (transportation engineering, operations research, computer engineering/science, or related disciplines)
• At least 2 years of experience
• Strong interests and expertise in traffic simulation, statistical modeling, mathematical programming, reinforcement learning, and optimization
• Minimum of two years of experience in simulation development.

Technical skills:

• Strong proficiency in Java and Python programming languages.
• Familiarity with electrified mobility technologies, electric vehicles, and charging infrastructure.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).

Experience/familiarity with any of the following is a plus:

• Familiarity with simulation software and tools (e.g., SimPy, MASON, Repast, Simulink, AnyLogic, SUMO).
• Simulation integration standards and frameworks (e.g., HELICS, HLA, DIS).
• High-performance communication technology (e.g., gRPC, MPI, ZeroMQ).
