Claxton leads the Cutting & Decommissioning Segment within the Acteon Group and is currently seeking to hire a full-time, permanent Senior Contracts Advisor for our office at Tuas South Avenue, Singapore. This role will oversee all phases of contract management and compliance, including pre-qualification, tendering, negotiations, and project delivery, spanning both pre- and post-contract award activities. As part of Claxton's Global Contracts Team, this position will play a key role in supporting regional client demands.
Duties/Responsibilities
- The Senior Contracts Advisor will support the Segment in the review, negotiation and tactics (including onsite support at client meetings) of all contract matters
- Establishing essential contract and legal amendments versus Nice to have criteria
- Will support key stakeholders by providing advice and guidance to manage contractual, transactional, and other legal responsibilities, disputes, governance, and compliance across the Segment globally
- Central to the role will be engagement and interaction with stakeholders at all levels of the global organisation; strong inter-personal and influencing skills combined with a team player approach will be critical
- The role works closely with the Senior Contracts Manager, Contracts Engineer, Claxton Senior Leadership Team, Acteon Contracts and Legal Team and Sales & Commercial Teams globally to identify, understand, quantify, and mitigate contractual exposure
- Provide contractual support to Segment offices globally, providing them with clear, succinct, and timely commentary focusing on the Terms and Conditions deal breakers
- Areas of focus include, but are not limited to the review, qualification and negotiation of terms and conditions of: All commercial contracts to identify both commercial and contractual risk, charter agreements, financial instruments, guarantees, non-disclosure agreements, memorandums of understanding and letters of intent
- Liaise with Claxton Leadership Team and Sales & Commercial Teams globally to ensure consistent approach to matters and issues
- When necessary, work with Sales & Commercial Teams on face-to-face negotiations with clients, ensuring that the Segment's and Acteon Group's interests are always appropriately represented and best served
Requirements
- Degree in Relevant Discipline such as Law or other Commercial Area
- Indepth Knowledge of sub-contracting T&Cs and Sub-contractors agreements ideally withing the Energy/Oil and Gas/Marine Industries
- 6+ years of experience in a contracts management role, ideally within the marine or construction industry
- Experience of working withing a multi-national and multi group organisations
- Participated in claims and arbitrations
- Strong persuasion and influencing skills with individuals and groups, has a mix of academic legal knowledge mixed with proven track record of domain expertise in contracting with the oil and gas service market
- Self-motivated, driven and persistent
- Proactive and solution focused with strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail but can delivery to agreed timelines
