Job Description: Senior Cook

Position: Senior Cook
Employment Type: Full-Time (Split Shift)

Responsibilities:

Food Preparation:

  • Lead and manage the kitchen team in daily food preparation tasks.
  • Develop and execute high-quality menus, ensuring consistency in taste and presentation.
  • Monitor food preparation methods, portion sizes, and garnishing to ensure food is prepared and presented in an excellent manner.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards at all times.

Ingredient Management:

  • Oversee the buying of ingredients and food supplies, ensuring quality and cost-efficiency.
  • Weigh and measure ingredients accurately to maintain recipe consistency.
  • Manage inventory levels, minimizing waste and ensuring optimal stock levels.
  • Ensure proper storage of ingredients and food supplies, maintaining freshness and compliance with health regulations.

Team Leadership:

  • Supervise, train, and mentor junior kitchen staff.
  • Coordinate daily operations and ensure smooth shift transitions.
  • Enforce kitchen policies and procedures, ensuring a collaborative and efficient working environment.

Operational Management:

  • Work in a split shift schedule to oversee both morning and evening kitchen operations.
  • Collaborate with the management team to plan and implement kitchen improvements.
  • Assist in budget management, controlling food costs and optimizing resource utilization.


Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Senior Cook or similar role in a high-volume kitchen.
  • Strong culinary skills with a deep understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills.
  • Experience in purchasing, weighing, and storing food supplies.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including split shifts.
  • Certification in Culinary Arts or related field is preferred.
