Key Duties and Responsibilities
As the Senior Director of Group AI Strategy, you will help coordinate and drive the impact of Artificial
Intelligence across the global footprint of STT GDC Group. This position will involve working closely with C-suite and functional leaders across all geographies to guide the organisation through the rapidly evolving impact of AI workloads on the colocation data centre sector.
You will spearhead strategic initiatives focusing future-proofing the business for the predicted wave of AI-fuelled colocation demand. A key part of the role will be to foster cross-functional collaboration across the STT GDC Group, driving a unified One Company approach to AI across all regions.
AI Strategy & Future-Proofing the Business:
- Lead the conversation on where AI is heading in the data centre sector and its potential impact on STT GDC Group's operations and strategy. Key topics would include demand mapping, defining impact to colocation product, impact to expansion cities/countries, power demands etc
- Provide actionable insights to the C-suite on how the company can get ahead of AI-driven trends through implementation of strategic programs in several functional areas.
Driving Cross-functional and Cross-border Strategic Programs for AI Readiness:
- Drive various strategic programs, cross-functional and cross-borders, to ensure STT GDC Group has contemporary world-class and consistent approach to addressing AI workloads, for example:
- Collaborate with product team to drive updates to our colocation product definition to incorporate AI focussed data centres
- Collaborate with site selection team and sales team to develop data-driven house view on likely locations/geos for AI data centres, and impact to land banking strategy
- Collaborate with construction and operations teams to ensure STT GDC Group understands and develops execution and operating plans for AI data centres, incorporating the needed design baseline changes and SOP changes for these types of workloads
- Collaborate with sales teams to ensure our people are equipped with the knowledge to sell to AI customers
- Collaborate with energy team to strategise on impact to grid connections and energy sourcing for the AI-era, power/water banking strategy
- Collaborate with R&D team to continue identifying and actioning new technological solutions and partners to aid in execution of AI.
- Facilitate AI knowledge sharing and best practices between the group's various regions, ensuring a unified approach to sales technology, innovation, and growth.
- Overall, ensure that all regions and departments work closely to align AI strategic initiatives across the group, ensuring consistency in execution and driving a One Company approach to addressing AI in colocation.
Innovation and Partnerships:
- Working with technology professionals in the business, engage with industry leaders, technology partners, and external stakeholders to identify emerging opportunities that can enhance STT GDC's market position.
- Foster strategic relationships with key partners and stakeholders to leverage innovation for both short-term wins and long-term transformation.
- Represent STT GDC Group in industry forums, thought leadership conferences, and at key partner events, establishing the company as a forward-thinking leader in the data centre space.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with minimum 10+ years of experience within the technology, data centre, or infrastructure sectors, with a proven ability to influence C-level executives and drive strategic initiatives.
- Deep understanding of emerging technologies, particularly AI, and the broader ecosystem impacting data centre infrastructure.
- Experience leading cross-functional and cross-geographical change programs in a global organisation is essential.
- Demonstrated success in building and executing strategic partnerships and innovative procurement strategies in a complex, multinational environment.
- Proven ability to translate emerging technological trends into actionable business strategies that deliver tangible results.
- Proven track record of working effectively with diverse teams across regions and functions, building consensus and driving unified strategies.
