Senior / Executive, Operations Excellence & Compliance
Job Purpose
We are looking for a detail-oriented Internal Auditor with experience in the public bus transport industry and a foundational understanding of finance. This role involves assessing and improving the effectiveness of our internal controls, risk management processes, and compliance with policies and regulations within our public transport operations.
Responsibilities
- Audit Planning and Execution:
Assist in developing and implementing audit plans tailored to the public bus transport sector.
Conduct audits focusing on operational processes, compliance, and basic financial controls.
- Risk Assessment:
Identify potential risks in operations and financial processes.
Support risk evaluation and contribute to recommendations for improving controls and mitigating risks.
- Compliance and Controls:
Verify adherence to internal policies, industry regulations, and safety standards within the public bus transport operations.
Evaluate the effectiveness of existing controls and recommend improvements as necessary.
- Reporting and Documentation:
Document audit findings and prepare clear, concise reports with actionable recommendations.
Communicate audit results to relevant stakeholders, including management and department heads.
- Follow-Up and Improvement:
Monitor the implementation of audit recommendations and corrective actions.
Assist in refining audit processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Collaboration:
Work closely with various departments to understand their processes and provide support for compliance and control improvements.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to audit strategy discussions.
Qualifications & Work Experience
Qualifications
- Educational Background:
Bachelors degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial), Environmental Science, or a related technical field.
Diploma in Compliance and Regulatory Affairs with minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in compliance, regulatory affairs, or internal auditing.
- Professional Certifications:
Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) is preferred.
Certifications related to engineering or environmental management, such as Certified Environmental Auditor (CEA) or similar, can be beneficial.
ISO-related certifications, such as ISO 9001 Lead Auditor or ISO 14001 Lead Auditor, are valuable.
- Technical Skills:
Proficiency in ISO standards relevant to the industry (e.g., ISO 9001 for Quality Management, ISO 14001 for Environmental Management, ISO 45001 for Occupational Health and Safety).
Knowledge of engineering principles and practices, particularly those related to compliance and risk management.
Familiarity with environmental regulations and standards.
- Analytical Skills:
Strong analytical skills for evaluating engineering processes, environmental compliance, and audit findings.
Ability to interpret data related to environmental impact, engineering efficiency, and quality management.
- Communication Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for drafting audit reports and communicating findings to various stakeholders.
Ability to explain complex engineering and environmental issues in a clear and understandable manner.
Work Experience
- Relevant Experience:
Typically, 2-3 years of experience in internal auditing, with a focus on engineering and environmental management.
Hands-on experience in auditing engineering processes, environmental systems, and ISO compliance is crucial.
- Industry Experience:
Experience in industries where engineering and environmental management are critical, such as manufacturing, construction, energy, or infrastructure.
- Leadership and Management Experience:
Experience in leading audit teams and managing audit projects related to engineering systems and environmental practices.
Proven track record of developing and implementing audit strategies for compliance with ISO standards and environmental regulations.
- Project Management:
Experience in managing audit projects that involve complex engineering systems and environmental management processes.
Ability to plan, execute, and report on audits related to ISO standards and engineering practices.
- Technical and Compliance Experience:
Experience in assessing compliance with ISO standards, environmental regulations, and engineering best practices.
Experience in identifying and mitigating risks associated with engineering processes and environmental management.
- Problem-Solving Experience:
Experience in addressing issues related to engineering processes, environmental impact, and compliance.
Ability to provide actionable recommendations for improving internal controls, processes, and compliance with ISO standards.
Skills
