Description
Kuiper GIS is seeking an experienced, self-motivated security leader to join the team as a Regional Security Manager. This role is responsible for overseeing the physical security of Kuiper Ground Gateway Terminals (GGT) and Kuiper Tracking, Telemetry, and Control stations (TT&C) in their designated region. The Regional Security Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams, various Amazon security organizations, and Governmental agencies to ensure the physical security of ground stations across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. To meet these requirements and ensure the delivery of the team's mission, the position requires flexibility to work after hours when required by global operations and requires global travel, amounting to 20-30% on average.
This position may require access to information, technology, or hardware that is subject to export control laws and regulations, including the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Employment in this position is contingent upon obtaining any required export licenses or other approvals from the United States government. As such, the successful candidate must be eligible to obtain any necessary export licenses or approvals based on their nationality, citizenship, and any other factors considered by the applicable export control regulations.
Key job responsibilities
Security Leadership & Advisory: Act as a trusted security advisor to internal Kuiper customers, providing expert advice on security-related issues, focusing on enhancing the safety of personnel and the security of Kuiper ground stations.
Day-to-Day Operations: Oversee security operations for a diverse portfolio of sites across the designated region, maintaining high standards for the physical security of Kuiper infrastructure.
Stakeholder Management: Maintain effective working relationships with business leadership, wider Kuiper GIS teams, and peers within Amazon's security organizations. Distill inputs from diverse stakeholders to drive the organizational vision and strategies.
Security Risk Integration: Embed security risk management principles into Kuiper GIS decision-making processes, promoting a security culture that enables the business to take calculated risks while ensuring safety.
Vendor Management: Oversee vendor-provided guarding services across the region, ensuring that security contractors deliver high-quality services
Crisis Response & Risk Management: Collaborate with Amazon's security intelligence teams to assess and manage security risks impacting Kuiper's mission. Lead crisis response, threat management, and emergency operations for physical and strategic security incidents.
Collaboration with SOC: Work closely with the Security Operations Center (SOC) to monitor physical security devices at ground stations, report and rectify any issues related to security devices.
Program & Project Management: Lead and manage complex security programs and large projects to meet organizational goals. Drive innovation and efficiency in security processes.

Basic Qualifications
10+ years of experience in the security field, particularly within a global corporate environment of a large-sized organization.
10+ years of experience in the law enforcement field, majority in a federal or national government agency.
Experience interacting with U.S. Government agencies and U.S. Embassy personnel, in particular U.S. State Department Diplomatic Security Service, and familiarity with and membership in the Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC).
Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Security & Risk Management, or related fields.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of interfacing with non-security professionals and senior leadership.
Experience in building cross-functional and international relationships, managing competing priorities in high-stress environments.
1+ years experience managing security for satellite ground terminals
Experience with security for data centers or critical infrastructure.
Knowledge of advanced security technologies, including CCTV, access control, and intrusion detection systems.
7+ years experience with threat assessments, security audits, and managing large budgets for security programs.
Preferred Qualifications
Proven experience in senior management or executive leadership roles, managing large security teams across multiple regions.
Familiarity with information security and privacy protection principles.
Strong understanding of security operations, risk management, and crisis communication.
Experience in the procurement and management of service providers, particularly in security and facility management.
Certifications in threat management, crisis response, or physical security systems such as CCTV and access control.
Additional certifications in leadership, such as ISMA (International Security Management Association) programs.
