Key Responsibilities
- Provide sound and timely legal advice to all relevant Bank stakeholders, working with external counsel or escalating internally as required
- Provide legal advice and support relating to wholesale and SME digital banking products
- Provide legal advice and support for implementations of digital customer journeys, embedded financing, mobile applications, internet platforms and instant messaging tools etc
- Provide legal advice and support for managing the Bank's risks (including but not limited to, input on internal controls, relevant policies, frameworks, processes and standard operating procedures)
- Corporate secretarial support - work with Head of Legal, Group Corporate Governance, Regulatory Compliance team & external corporate secretarial firm to arrange for board meetings (including for various committees such as Nomination and Remuneration Committee (NRC), Audit Committee (AC), Board Risk Committee (BRC), liaising with other internal teams for meeting agendas, documenting minutes of meeting, training of bank staff or directors (as required) , including support for all corporate governance and board matters, conflicts, interests and other disclosure processes
- All such other work as may be assigned from time to time.
Requirements
- Required: Bachelor or above law degree. A minimum of 4-10 years PQE with regional experience across APAC. Legally qualified in HK/UK/SG (or other Commonwealth jurisdictions) with strong legal training and substantial experience either in a top-tier law firm or in-house in a commercial or wholesale bank.
- Preferred: Knowledge or direct experience in FinTech and/or e-payments industry, corporate governance or corporate secretarial and data privacy matters; regional experience in the Asia region; proficiency in English for communication with stakeholders. Whilst the bulk of interactions will be in English, some Mandarin Chinese skills would be useful with certain stakeholders.
- Strong regulatory/compliance knowledge and skills, especially about banking/fintech business and the relevant licensing laws and regulations in Asia.
