Our client is a prominent and global player in the Maritime Sector. There is now a need for the business to hire an experienced legal professional to be part of their dynamic legal team as their Senior Legal Counsel covering the APAC Region.
Responsibilities:
Legal Advisory:
- Provide strategic legal advice to senior management on a broad range of legal matters, including corporate governance, commercial transactions, and compliance, with respect to project financing in support of the Company's existing and prospective global business.
- Negotiate, structure, draft and finalize finance agreements including revolving loan facilities, asset finance, hedging contracts and associated term sheets.
- Advise and review, existing contractual arrangements involved in international shipping.
- Analyze and interpret complex legal issues, assessing the impact on business operations and recommending actionable solutions.
- Manage budget, instruct and coordinate with external counsels on a need-be basis.
- Mentor and guide junior legal staff (Co Secs), fostering a collaborative and growth-focused environment.
- Support the legal department's development by sharing knowledge and encouraging best practices globally.
Qualifications:
- Education: Law degree from an accredited institution. A legal practice certificate from a common law country or other relevant jurisdiction. Dual qualification is an advantage.
- Experience: Minimum of 6-8 years of relevant legal experience, ideally within a corporate legal department or a large law firm.
- Skills:
- Strong negotiation, drafting, and analytical skills.
- Deep knowledge of contract law, corporate law, compliance, and risk management.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
- Proactive, business-oriented approach with a focus on problem-solving and strategic thinking.
