Reporting to the Head of Cancer Rehabilitation Services, you will be part of an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team in developing oncology rehabilitation services, facilitating and enabling patients to achieve maximum functional performance, think beyond the physical restoration of the patients and incorporate elements of psychosocial support to facilitate rehabilitation. You will also perform other professional duties associated with the care of the patients and work closely with their family members and caregivers to ensure effective execution of prescribed therapy plans or programmes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with a multi-disciplinary team to assess the physical and functional needs of the patient.
- Focus on optimising the patient's functions, reducing pain and disability, increasing conditioning and mobility, and ultimately improving quality of life.
- Develop individualised pathways of care for assigned patients, taking into consideration the patients changing needs and implement appropriate interventions as the condition changes.
- Support the coping and caregiving skills of both the patient and the family/caregivers.
- Contribute to palliative and end of life care through maximising and facilitating:physical function and optimising ADLs (e.g. home modifications)

leisure and social participation (e.g. community outings)
- Keep detailed, well-written records and other relevant documentation on patient's activities and progress for patient evaluation.
- Create and provide accessible, efficient and seamless service which includes managing and developing his/her own clinical caseload.
- Develop and implement cancer rehabilitation initiatives related to physical therapy in collaboration with the rehabilitation team, across disciplines and other relevant stakeholders.
- Develop, locate and implement oncology specific key performance indicators to demonstrate clinical impact and service performance.
- Create, plan and deliver oncological education materials for patients.
- Work effectively by balancing clinical caseload of oncology patients with service development, monitoring and expansion.
- Contribute to the promotion of SCS cancer rehabilitation services and research initiatives.
- Assist in training and supervision of therapy assistants, junior physiotherapists and physiotherapy students.
- Conduct annual budgeting exercise for discipline related items.
Key Requirements:
- Minimum a Diploma in Physiotherapy from an accredited polytechnic or university recognized by the Ministry of Health under the Allied Health Professions Act (AHPC)
- Full registration with AHPC
- Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience
- Experience in working with cancer patients would be an advantage
- Keen to work in a rehabilitative centre and palliative based home care environment
- Experience in congestive manual lymphedema drainage would be an advantage
- Complete decongestive therapy (manual lymphatic drainage, compression bandages and garments, exercises and skin care)
- Soft tissue mobilisation/myofascial release, therapeutic massage, therapeutic stretching and strengthening
- Pelvic floor strengthening
- Electrophysical techniques to relieve and control pain
- Fatigue management
- Management of dyspnoea, removal of secretions, nebulized drugs and oxygen management
- Neurological rehabilitation techniques
- Relaxation techniques to reduce levels of anxiety
- Able to design new physical therapy rehabilitation programmes and create the relevant documents and processes needed
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
