As a Physiotherapist, you play a crucial role in the healthcare team by addressing the physical challenges and limitations that often accompany ageing.
Your role is also to enhance the overall well-being and functional independence of elderly individuals and work to address the physical challenges and limitations that often accompany ageing.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
- Evaluate clincial history and conduct client assessment for the participant, including physical, impairment-based assessment and relevant outcome measures.
- Develop client centred and SMART goals, treatment plans and implement these plans for participants and caregivers.
- Provide appropriate physiotherapy interventions and client education based on assessment, including:
- Conduct functional mobility training
According to participant's needs:
- Plan, conduct or supervise, and evaluate individual and group physical activity and exercise programmes, OR plan individual and group physical activity and exercise programmes for Programme Assistants [PA] and/or volunteers to conduct.
- Conduct education and training for caregivers.
- Conduct home therapy as required
- Assist in implementing new clinical services/ therapy.
- Participate in continuing education and research including delivering in-service training for staff and volunteers and participating in quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain documentation of participant's progress and outcomes of care.
- Other duties as directed by the HOP and/or Lead Therapist.
Education/Professional Qualifications:
- Registered with the Allied Health Professionals Council. (Full Registration)
Personal Attributes and Functional/Technical Competencies:
- Personal attributes: Empathy & compassion, effective communication, adaptability, cultural sensitivity, multidisciplinary teamwork, and professionalism.
- Competencies: Fall prevention, Pain management, Mobility & functional independence.
- Experience in geriatric patients is preferred.
