Job Description:
We are seeking an AI/ML expert to drive AI in drug discovery in the area of pharmacology and pharmacometrics, including PK/PD, in the Bioinformatics Institute (BII) and Experimental Drug Development Centre (EDDC). The PI will build a research group in BII and collaborate closely with clinicians and researchers to drive this effort across Singapore. The PI is also expected to lead or participate in grant proposals and work with industry to translate new technologies developed.
- Enhance collaboration between EDDC and BII
- Lead the pharmacology efforts in supporting all project(s), including clinical projects. Manage and develop junior pharmacology scientists in the IVP/BD group (in vivo pharmacology/biomarker development).
- Work with the Head of Computation Sciences to drive efforts to apply ML/DL methodologies and use predictive models to support drug discovery & development within EDDC, including but not limited to ADME.
- Contribute to AI efforts as part of the cross-functional data integration & workflow automation efforts aimed at fostering data-driven and AI-driven approaches to drug discovery and validation, provide support for AI-augmented drug design and development, addressing undruggable targets, and expediting processes.
- Establish and sustain robust collaborative relationships with various functions within the Discovery unit and across relevant divisions within EDDC and BII.
- Provide feedback as a potential end-user for the AIDD initiative.
Job Requirements:
- PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or a related field.
- Deep experience in AI/ML methodologies related to drug discovery and pharmacology.
- 5-10 years experience in the drug development process.
- Outstanding record in publications, patents or securing research funds, or substantial industry experience.
- Strong management skills in leading a research team, executing projects and working with multiple stakeholders.
- Consistent track record in delivering outcomes for AI /ML projects related to healthcare and pharmacology.
- Excellent communication skills
