About EAI
Established in 1997, the East Asian Institute (EAI) promotes both academic and policy-oriented research on East Asian development. Our focus includes contemporary China (including Hong Kong and Taiwan), and China's economic relations with Japan, Korea, ASEAN, and the world. We collaborate with regional and international institutions, organize conferences, and provide insights that inform public policy.
Role and Responsibilities
Research at the Institute on Chinese politics and governance includes a range of topics, including but not limited to elite politics, the institutions and work of the Communist Party and government, central-local relations, law-based governance, and governance of society and the economy. Candidates for the position are expected to have demonstrable expertise in two or more of these areas:
. Conduct in-depth research in Chinese politics and governance.
. Lead research projects and a small team.
. Contribute to EAI's Background Briefs for a policy-maker audience.
. Engage the public through commentary, op-eds, and public lectures.
. Publish in academic journals and other reputable platforms.
