[What the role is]
The Radiation Protection and Nuclear Science Group in NEA is the national authority for radiation protection in Singapore and serves to protect the public, radiation workers and the environment from the harmful effects of radiation. Its Regulation Division administers and enforces the Radiation Protection Act and its subsidiary Regulations through a system of licensing, inspection and enforcement. It also ensures that Singapore fulfils her obligations to relevant international conventions and agreements.
[What you will be working on]
Responsibilities
As a Senior Scientific Officer of the Nuclear Science and Technology Department in the Regulation Division, the officer will be responsible for the following:
- Develop, review and enhance various radiological and nuclear emergency plans
- Procure and maintain response equipment and tools
- Develop and implement training programme
- Plan and conduct emergency exercises locally and regionally
[What we are looking for]
The job might be for you if you possess the following:
- Honours Degree in Physics/Chemistry or any engineering field
- 3-5 years of relevant working experience, preferably in emergency preparedness and response work, would be an advantage
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Good analytical, writing and presentation skills
- Able to work in a team and independently with minimal supervision
- Able to work efficiently and meet tight deadlines
- Able to adapt to changes and has a positive work attitude
- Highly motivated, meticulous, committed and takes initiative
- Aptitude to understand concepts in radiation protection
