The Senior Speech Therapist will provide effective and efficient speech and language therapy sessions and develop innovative solutions to meet the client needs, in line with best practice. The therapist will work with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the coordination, development and delivery of a quality, client-centered therapy service.
The therapist will also be required to provide supervision and leadership to other speech therapists and therapy assistants. Where required, they will also need to be supervisors for conditional registered speech therapists and speech therapy students.
Clinical Duties
- Conduct accurate and holistic speech and language specific assessment for clients during admission, periodic care plan reviews and discharge
- Select appropriate and specific outcome measures to enable evaluation of therapy progress and outcomes in a timely manner to guide clinical decision making
- Formulate person centered and SMART goals in collaboration with clients and relevant stakeholders
- Design plans and conduct speech and language interventions for clients in a person centered manner, that is also evidence based
- Document assessment results, therapy plans, interventions, goals and outcomes measures according to guidelines
- Communicate assessment results, intervention plans, goals, outcomes and discharge plans to clients and relevant stakeholders
- Formulate discharge and continuity of care plans based on clients performance in consultation with relevant stakeholders
- Facilitate community integration through collaboration with other community partners as required
Administrative and Program Related Duties
- Mentor and supervise therapists and support staff for professional development and day-to-day job scope
- Plan manpower allocation for the therapy team
- Identify safety risks and issues, recommend preventive and corrective care measures
- Oversee inventory management and equipment maintenance required for therapy services
- Participate in development and promotion of new clinical services in therapy
- Manage client feedback
- Oversee the maintenance of clients records and documentation
- Assist in leading research and / or quality improvement initiatives
- Conduct service and clinical audits, and review audit findings at team level
- Participate or lead in organization's projects, including external partner collaborations / research projects as and when required
- Conduct in-house training for staff, caregivers and volunteers
- Engage in continuing education to further skills and knowledge in the field of practice
Job Requirements
- Minimum Degree in Speech Therapy and registered with AHPC
- Able to converse in English and other languages (Mandarin, Chinese dialects, Tamil or Malay)
- Minimum 5 years experience as a Speech Therapist
- Dynamic and proactive personality with good public relation and communication skills
- Possess good management, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
