The Staff Nurse / Senior Staff Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to residents in St. Andrew's Nursing Home. This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care plans for residents, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social well-being. The Staff Nurse / Senior Staff Nurse will also supervise and mentor junior nursing staff, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and maintain a safe and supportive environment for both residents and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Resident Care:
- Assess residents health conditions and develop personalized care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Monitor and record residents vital signs and medical information.
- Provide wound care and other nursing procedures as required.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including feeding, bathing, and mobility.
- Respond to medical emergencies promptly and effectively.
2. Supervision and Mentorship:
- Supervise junior nursing staff, nurse aides and healthcare assistants
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
- Conduct regular training sessions and ensure staff are updated with current nursing practices.
3. Communication and Coordination:
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care for residents.
- Participate in care plan meetings and provide input on residents care and progress.
4. Quality Improvement:
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of best practices.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and standards of care.
- Conduct audits and participate in continuous education programs.
5. Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and documentation in the Healthcare System.
- Ensure all documentation meets legal and organizational standards.
- Report any changes in residents conditions to the appropriate healthcare professionals promptly.
6. Safety and Infection Control:
- Ensure a safe and clean environment for residents and staff.
- Adhere to infection control policies and procedures.
- Promote and practice proper hand hygiene and other safety protocols.
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse with the Singapore Nursing Board.
- Diploma or Degree in Nursing from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of nursing experience, preferably in a geriatric or long-term care setting.
- BCLS and AED certification.
- Strong clinical skills and knowledge of geriatric care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Leadership and supervisory experience (for Senior Staff Nurse position).
