We are seeking a skilled Senior Technical Executive to assist in the development of food products and sensory evaluation for industry. The candidate will assist in student development in the domain of Food Science by providing technical support to the laboratory activities for teaching and learning (PET & CET), research projects, in campus events and workshops. The successful candidate will also assist in maintaining equipment, ensuring smooth laboratory operations and contributing to the overall effectiveness of PET/CET and industry projects.
[What you will be working on]
Responsibilities:-
- Provide support to senior lead researcher/specialist in formulating and developing food products for industry adoption, including designing, proposing, performing experiments, and documenting data to ensure work integrity and quality control.
- Provide support on stability and efficacy tests as well as sensory evaluation of food products.
- Engage clients, provide solutions, and troubleshoot concerns in food product development.
- Provide support during engagement with suppliers in sourcing for ingredients and actives for food product development activities.
- Mentor and guide staff, interns, and students on food product development projects, and provide technical support for teaching and learning (PET & CET), joint industry projects, and ad-hoc trainings.
- Provide logistical support for events, lab visits and learning journeys.
- Acquire relevant knowledge and skills to operate and maintain all SP equipment placed at the Future Food Lab to ensure that they are in good working conditions.
- Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and train lab users on the safe operation of lab equipment.
- Assess and enforce workplace health and safety, in accordance with Workplace Safety, Health & Environment (WSHE) policies and safety regulations.
- Purchase and manage materials for laboratories and official events/activities.
- Track and manage assets to ensure the information is up to date and assets are properly tagged.
- Maintain and upkeep laboratory records, including documentations for inventories, Safety Data Sheet (SDS) and equipment calibrations.
- Any other duties assigned by the Laboratory Manager or Management Team
[What we are looking for]
Requirements:-
- Possess a relevant science Diploma with at least 4 years of experience or a relevant Degree with at least 2 year of experience providing technical support in a laboratory.
- Experience in operating/maintaining/procuring food-related or biotechnology-related equipment will be an advantage.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and adherence to protocols.
- Able to support after office hour classes.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to details.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and responsibilities.
- Willingness to engage in continuous learning and professional development.
Successful candidate will be offered a 2-year contract in the first instance.
