The Senior Youth Worker provides mentoring to youth workers and interns who work with clients aged between 10 and 24 in a variety of settings. The Senior Youth workers also guide and support clients in their personal, social and educational development to help them reach their full potential in society.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct youth work which includes the following:
Plan and conduct activities including regular street outreach and community outreach work that may involve working out of the physical environment of the office.
Develop YR programmes such as Youth Development Programmes (YDP), and other programmes as required.
Engage, mentor and counsel at-risk youths and youth groups.
Establish rapport for future intervention.
Facilitate group work/workshop intervention and ensure regular contact with youths.
Maintain and document records of all outreach activities and case sessions.Conduct case management for identified cases which include the following:
Spot potential client in crisis or in distress.
Analyze circumstances and dynamics with sound judgment.
Develop strategies and intervention plan to deal with identified issues.
Inform supervisor on crisis or unusual incidents.
Liaise and work with other professionals and clients system including family and school counselor to ensure holistic and effective intervention.
Maintain and document records of all case sessions.Assist the Centre Manager to:
Lead youth workers in programme creation and facilitation.
Identify, plan, initiate and monitor existing and new programmes for clients
Manage and administer youth and community projects and resources.Assist the Assistant Lead to:
Mentor youth workers in the function of their roles.
Network with various community partners.
Meet the requirements of the annual audit.
Conduct orientation, training and provide supervision for youth workers in stakeholders management, community networking, youth engagement, programme development, SOP matters.
Conduct and document evaluation reports for all outreach activities/ programmes planned and implemented.
Meet regularly with the Centre Manager to assess case/ programme progress, intervention effectiveness and programme outcomes and evaluations.
Support/ conduct research when called upon for their respective functions.
Provide ground-up feedback to Centre Manager on the youth trends and landscape and support the continuous refinement of strategy.
When required, represent YR in community networking events and presentations.
Job Requirements
Diploma in Social Work/ Bachelor Degree in Psychology / Counselling / Social Work.
At least 3 years relevant experience VWO / NPO / Social service sector.
Experience in working with children / CYP and their families.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish good relationships with young people.
Patience, tolerance and flexibility.
Able to work independently and in a team.
Possess good interpersonal, formal communication and written skills necessary for case notes, case reports, articles writing, presentations, funding applications and other general report writing.
