Social Media Producer/Writer, Berita Harian (1-year contract)

A newspaper for the local Malay community, Berita Harian was established on July 1, 1957. It presents news and issues from home, the region and the world, featuring a wide spectrum of topics from sports to politics and religion. Other highlights include Malay culture and tradition, arts and heritage, family, hobbies and leisure. Berita Harian also provides a platform for the Malay community to voice their views on issues that concern them. It is a paper that speaks with authority and understands the needs of the Malay community.

As a Social Media Producer/Writer, you are expected to manage video projects from inception to completion. In this role, you will have multifunctional responsibilities, such as but not limited to scriptwriting, project concepts, and scheduling.

You are also required to develop and execute creative strategies to manage and grow online communities, driving follower engagement and increasing numbers through innovative and compelling content.

Job Responsibilities

• Conceptualise content ideas based on content pillars
• Optimize resource utilisation and meet project requirements
• Research for content that effectively conveys key messages and narratives, maintaining consistency with brand guidelines and communication objectives
• Organise logistics such as locations, casting, equipment procurement and scheduling to ensure smooth and efficient production operations
• Manage deadlines and milestones to keep production on track and deliverables on schedule
• Communicate effectively with all stakeholders to facilitate collaboration and ensure alignment throughout the production process

Job Requirements

• Minimum diploma in New Media, Mass Communications or equivalent from a recognised institution
• In-depth knowledge of video production processes
• Able to lead a production team and manage several tasks at once
• Calm under pressure and comfortable with a fast-paced work environment
• Problem-solving skills, deadline-focused, and goal-driven
• Meticulous in their work with high standards of excellence
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, in English and Malay
