1) Provision of withdrawal support, specialized remediation, and implementation of Individual Education Plans.
2) Provision of in-class support for special needs students in areas such as (but not limited to):
.reminding and prompting the student to stay on-task, pay attention to teachers and participating in classroom activities
.helping the student to follow classroom routines
.withdrawing the student for time out if he becomes disruptive or stressed during lessons and providing means to calm him/her down
.helping the student to understand lesson content using various means (e.g. visual aides, and to complete work assigned)
.helping to communicate the student's needs to the teachers
3) Provide consultation to teachers and parents to facilitate better understanding of the students needs and how to support them.
4) Set up and maintenance of special needs-friendly classroom/school environments.
5) Preparation of teaching and learning resources for use with students (e.g. visual prompts for mild ASD students, differentiated worksheets for students with dyslexia).
6) Provision of skills training (e.g. organisational skills, managing anger, handling changes, queuing up, handwriting skills).
7) Provision of peer training and support (e.g. setting up circles of friends).
8) Provision of feedback to teachers and parents on the needs and progress of the special needs students.
9) Collaboration with external professionals/agencies and special schools in the support of special needs students.
10) Co-ordination and contribution to case conferences in schools.
11) Set up and maintenance of records on special needs students.
12) Conduct pre-orientation for students with ASD to help them familiarize with the school environment and the new changes around the school (eg. Change of classroom, change of class name and teachers).
13) Trained in administration of progress monitoring tools.
