Position Summary:
The Head of Regional Marketing, AMEA is responsible for leading a multi-functional team that is accountable for developing, managing and implementing regional marketing plans for commercialisation and go-to-market strategies for Illumina's product portfolios across all segments in support of global and corporate goals and commercial objectives for the AMEA region. They are responsible for driving portfolio growth across our various product lines, customer and market segments, countries and sub-regions.
This individual will lead a multi-functional team that will provide an interface for sales and customer interaction and in addition, are responsible for assimilating regional market information and disseminating this to internal stakeholders, as well as acting as a conduit for internal information to be propagated throughout the region and globally. The Head of Regional Marketing, AMEA will also need to work closely with regional and global Commercial and marketing leaders, product management and other groups across the organization to assure he/she has appropriate visibility into up-coming key launches, corporate priorities and to assure alignment with global strategies.
Position Responsibilities:
- Responsible for driving strategic plan/vision/direction for multiple functional areas, provides input to executive leadership.
- Oversee the development, implementation and monitoring of the regional marketing strategic plan to ensure investment is allocated to appropriate growth target areas and channels. Develop go to market strategies and drive execution of those strategies with clear milestones and action plans. - short and medium-term strategy with clear milestones and action plans.
- Work collaboratively with the marketing and commercial leadership teams across Illumina's functions and business units to direct Illumina's product portfolio strategy including product development and management, portfolio positioning, and sales enablement.
- Partner with regional senior management and marketing teams to integrate the voice of customer and voice of field into Illumina's overall strategic direction for our products, solutions and services in region. Work with all functions to conceive and execute marketing plans for key market segments and geographies of responsibility.
- Actively manage the marketing budget and work with regional financial partners to appropriately allocate resources to align with growth opportunities. Regularly monitor budget for channel activities and regional operational expenses ensuring budgets are adhered to and that ROMI is leveraged and applied to strategic planning. Provide guidance and direction to the team on strategies and investments that drive business and growth. Meet or exceed annual financial targets including departmental expense targets.
- Enable the commercial organisation to successfully penetrate new markets through scientific and business analysis support including education, training and content presentation. Identify new applications, assess opportunities for new partnerships and product offerings and integrate those into the product marketing mix.
- Stay current and report on competitor activities and market dynamics. Leverage and communicate market information internally to best inform Illumina's product development, regulatory and market entry strategies. Monitor, review and report out regional business across customer and market segments, and key customer types to ensure strategic plans are leveraged and adjusted accordingly.
- Actively manage, develop and mentor a team of direct reports and ensure their professional development and progression. Performance Management activities include setting performance standards, ensuring employees have appropriate and realistic job goals, providing ongoing feedback about employees performance, conducting performance appraisals, including assessing how the employees have performed and how they can improve their performance, developing performance improvement plans if employees performance is not adequate and providing rewards for employee accomplishments.
- Serve as an active member of regional commercial leadership team with participation in quarterly business reviews and town hall meetings act as consultant and subject matter expert for commercial strategic and revenue planning. Actively participate in shaping the continued evolution of the AMEA marketing organization.
- As spokesperson and leader for the region, contribute actively to global marketing planning and governance processes.
- Collaborate within a complex, matrixed organizational structure, demonstrate an ability to organize projects and see them through to completion. Work with internal and external stakeholders, partners and governments to enable clinical customers to operate in both regulated and unregulated markets.

Position Requirements:
- Minimum 15 years experience in marketing and/or sales/commercial roles in the life sciences, health care or medical technology field
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals or other related materials to contribute to strategy formation
- Ability to effectively present information to top management and/or the scientific community
- Comprehensive understanding of core strategic marketing and business principles
- Ability to interpret and communicate financial data and concepts
- Requires the ability to work as a member of global multi-functional team, strong communication, organization skills and planning ability (demonstrated ability to lead in a matrix, global environment)

Preferred Experience/Education/Skills:
- Bachelors or Masters in genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry or equivalent is required. MBA, MD or Ph.D. is desirable
- Typically has 20+ years of related experience, with 12+ years of applicable management experience as assessed by Illumina Executive Staff.
- Broad knowledge of all areas within particular Corporate sub-function or a function within an operation.
- Typically has depth of technical knowledge in function derived from experience in non-management and middle management roles.
- Requires high level understanding of markets and sales opportunities for the company's products.
