Epidemiologist (NPHEU)
Job Summary
Perform secretariat functions to support policy decisions such as taking scientific minutes, administration and coordination of national committee meetings.
Develop and support national epidemiology / public health programmes, provide data and propose practices or policies that will promote and protect public health.
Design, maintain and use databases and disease registries for evaluation of public health problems and epidemiologic research e.g. development of algorithms for extraction and collation of electronic data from disease registries, clinical databases, and electronic health records.
Design, conduct and analyse epidemiological studies that would provide evidence to support enhancements to the national public health programmes.
Conduct systematic reviews, long-term horizon scanning and risk assessments of potential public health threats to Singapore, to guide the development of professional guidelines as well as strategies and policies.
Serve as a consultant and expert on epidemiologic methodology and data relating to infectious diseases of public health importance within and external to Singapore.
Conduct training and research to continuously advance the field of epidemiology.
Job Requirements
Masters / PhD in Public Health or Epidemiology
A degree in life science, mathematics or statistics is advantageous
Experience in health-related setting such as hospitals, public health organizations and academic institutions
At least 3 years of experience in the field of epidemiology and analytical work e.g. data management, data quality, data analysis, descriptive statistics, graphics and data reporting
Experience with public health registries and/or medical research and clinical trials
Proficient in report writing, manuscript preparation, publications and presentations
Proficient in at least 1 statistics software e.g. SPSS, STATA, SAS, R
