Technical Responsibilities
- Undertake design document reviews and possess in depth knowledge of project specification, relevant international codes, industry standards and relevant Classification Rules and Regualtion
- Prepare in-service design concept and perform detailed design as required by project. Prepare and deliver structural design sketches and structural calculations report at project datelines and quality.
- Ensure effective communication and coordination with multi-disciplines team to obtain input for Discipline designs and to develop a crash free design.
- Prepare design concept for structural framing, grillage and fastening during in-transport and onsite condition and perform structural engineering for in-transportation and installation conditions for the unit
- Prepare procedures for loadout, transportation and installation operations
- Utilises STAAD PRO and SAP2000 software as well as company proprietary Microsoft Excel spreadsheets as required. Conversant with relevant International Codes of Practice as well as engineering and industry standards
- Adheres to and complies with engineering procedures and industrial standards/codes and provides constructive feedback for continuous improvement. Identifies potential applications for new processes and technologies to improve productivity and efficiency
- Ensures effective communication and interface between all disciplines for design and development
- Ensure project meets client requirements, industry standards and relevant Classification Rules and regulations
- Participates in internal audits and investigations as required
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships internally. Engages with inter-discipline community and promotes networking and knowledge sharing
- Review all detailed drawings ensuring technical correctness, professional presentation and that fabrication and installation requirements are employed.
- Review vendor deliverables, checking for compliances with project specifications and providing comments as necessary.
- Provide technical support to fabrication queries
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil & Structural Engineering or equivalent engineering specialisation from an accredited university
- 5+ years professional engineering in the related field
- STAAD.PRO, SAP2000 familiarity. Knowledge in SACS is an advantage
- Familarity of industry standards, codes and/or Classification Society Rules
- Excellent technical communication (oral and written) skills with proven ability to present technical issues to design teams and project engineering teams
- Self-starter and be able to work with minimal supervision, make sound decisions, take independent action, analyze problems, and provide focused solutions to assigned projects
- Possess strong inter-personal and communication skills and be able to work well with people at all levels
- High level of numerical accuracy and attention to detail
- Preferably to have some experience in Transportation and installation or naval architectural related design or Marine Warranty Survey (MWS)
