Purpose and Scope:
- Ensure the quality of workmanship meets the specifications and requirements as well as ensuring that his/her workers are using the correct tools and equipment for their work activities
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
- Resolve discrepancies or problems relating to the HSSEQ issues of the work together with the Project Engineer and report all progresses/occurrences of workplace incidents promptly
- Work with the Site Checker to order material, plant, equipment and machinery and keep proper records on all the completed works
- Ensure the construction works under his/her charge are carried out in a healthy, safe and environmental-friendly and gracious manner, according to the respective work activities risk assessments and safe work procedures and all his/her workmen are equipped with personal protective equipment appropriate for their scope of work, prior to work commencement on the project site
- Perform duties in the project in accordance to the relevant legal requirements
- Comply and adhere with the Company's HSSEQ Management System and carry out all required/relevant requirements stated within the management system
- Take instruction from the Project Management Team and HSSE personnel with regards to HSSE requirements
- Consult with the Project Management Team and HSSE personnel on the HSSE requirements to be implemented and adhered to prior to commencement of work under his/her charge
- Inform the HSSE personnel and all other relevant parties on the changes to work operations, work methods, location of work, change in use of machinery or equipment, change in competent persons to perform the work, etc. so that the appropriate HSSE controls can be implemented to mitigate the risks/impacts arising from such changes
- Ensure HSSE requirements are given the highest priority in all works and compliance with HSSE legal requirements are maintained at all times
- Undertake appointment as member of the project's Risk Management Team (RMT)
- Undertake appointment as member of the project's HSSE Committee
- Ensure all personnel and sub-contractors under his/her charge perform work in the project in accordance to relevant legal requirements
- Ensure all personnel and sub-contractors under his/her charge is adequately HSSE trained and competent to perform their work
- Ensure all personnel and sub-contractors under his/her charge is trained in the relevant HSSE documentation before work commencement
- Manage their work areas properly so that all operations are carried out to the required standards with minimum of HSSE risks and impacts to men, equipment, materials, environment, etc
- Ensure all machinery, plant and equipment, hand tools, etc. used are maintained in good working condition and that all guards and other appropriate safety devices are properly fitted and functioning
- Ensure all machinery, plant and equipment, hand tools, etc. are positioned safely without endangering men and equipment
- Ensure that the methods and sequences of construction operations are in accordance with the requirements stated in the work method statement
- Perform standing site supervision of the work operations under his/her charge
- Ensure that suitable personal protective equipment and safety equipment are made available and used effectively
- Ensure proper housekeeping is carried out and maintained for all work areas
- Conduct regular joint HSSE inspections with the HSSE personnel to identify and rectify HSSE non-conformities/non-compliances
- Ensure all HSSEQ non-conformities/non-compliances made know to him/her are rectified immediately with the provision of effective corrective and preventive measures
Qualification, Skills and Experience:
- Diploma/ NTC in Civil/ Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering or its equivalent
- Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in the construction industry
- Possess relevant trade foreman certificate, NCC, BCSS, etc
