The Role:

Ship and Marine Structure Surveys:


Conduct surveys and inspections of ships, offshore installations, and other marine structures to assess their condition and compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
Perform inspections during construction, conversion, repair, and maintenance phases to ensure adherence to classification rules, statutory requirements, and industry standards.

Certification and Classification:


Assess vessels for certification and classification, ensuring they meet the necessary criteria for safe operation.
Issue and maintain relevant certificates, including but not limited to Safety Equipment, Load Line, and International Oil Pollution Prevention (IOPP) certificates.

Regulatory Compliance:


Ensure vessels comply with international conventions, such as SOLAS, MARPOL, and the International Convention on Load Lines.
Liaise with flag state administrations, port authorities, and other regulatory bodies as required.

Technical Evaluation and Reporting:


Provide detailed technical evaluations, assessments, and reports on the condition and seaworthiness of vessels.
Identify defects, recommend necessary repairs or modifications, and verify the completion of corrective actions.

Client and Stakeholder Communication:


Work closely with shipowners, shipbuilders, operators, and other stakeholders to provide guidance on compliance, certification, and technical issues.
Offer technical support and advice to clients, ensuring clear communication and understanding of regulatory and technical requirements.

Risk Management and Safety:


Identify potential risks and hazards associated with marine operations and recommend appropriate risk mitigation measures.
Promote a strong safety culture within the maritime industry, advising clients on best practices and safety management systems.

Continuous Professional Development:


Stay updated with the latest industry standards, regulations, and technological advancements.
Participate in ongoing training and professional development to maintain and enhance technical expertise.

What you bring :

Educational Background: A degree in marine engineering, naval architecture, maritime studies, or a related field.
Professional Experience: Relevant experience in ship surveying, marine engineering, or a similar role within the maritime industry.
Certifications: Relevant certifications or qualifications, such as ISO Lead Auditor, are advantageous.
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of maritime regulations, classification society rules, and industry standards.
Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze technical data and assess the condition and compliance of vessels.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with clients and stakeholders.
Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify issues, provide solutions, and make informed decisions.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous in inspecting and evaluating marine structures.

Additional Requirements:

Willingness to travel and work on-site, often in challenging environments.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong commitment to safety and quality standards.
