The role :


To conduct relevant activities and provide advice for service delivery within own area of experience, adhering to budget constraints and contractual requirements.
To produce the deliverable within the agreed parameters in a defined format to time, budget and to quality.
To discuss and present the deliverable with the internal / external client and be able to suggest solutions where appropriate.
Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.
To pursue Continuous Professional Development and maintain a high degree of discipline, knowledge and awareness.
To assess or recommend the time and value of the work to be undertaken for an external client, assisting in identifying the most appropriate fee and cost structure.
To give guidance to other employees, as appropriate, and disseminate information to achieve effective knowledge transfer and application.
To assist in service delivery improvement by communicating internal / external client feedback as appropriate.
Ensure that the appropriate authorisations are gained and are kept up to date.
Undertake routine administration as required in line with current processes and procedures.
Eliminate or minimise employee's exposure to risks by reviewing, regularly, the health and safety risk register, applying appropriate controls, communicating results of risk assessment and ensuring health and safety is considered in the planning and execution of all LR activities.
Assess the risks and work in a safe manner at all times, robustly implementing health and safety rules, instructions and systems and refuse to undertake work that compromises your safety or health.
Report in a timely manner all incidents including near miss and safety observations (NMSO), accidents and injuries and raise any health and safety concerns with your line manager.
To assist SSIC in ensuring that all Classification, Statutory and Consultancy Services are effectively and efficiently resourced, delivered in a pro-active manner hence meeting all applicable stakeholders requirements. To reinforce the ICARE culture and ensure that this is embedded within the team so that high quality superior customer service and care are consistently delivered in a safe, responsive, reliable manner, high quality hassle free and value added customer services whatever the circumstances [in line with ICARE customer centric culture].
To be pro-active in working together and supporting fellow SIC, MOM and provide superior services at all times. By being proactive in working closely with the clients in offering innovative services and solutions like a consultant means that the clients will have the right reasons and motivation in specifying LR for their present and future requirements.
To ensure and upkeep continuous training and competency upgrading / improvement so that they are in a position to provide superior services at all times. To be able to undertake and manage all ship surveys independently and in ensuring that flag states requirements are communicated and complied with.
To be able to manage project and shipyard jobs in the effective and practical manner by coordinate with shipyard QA/QC and owner representative in the best possible way to carry out inspection.
To ensure all surveys/audits/inspections reports are completed & submitted in accordance with LR requirements and meeting marine objectives kpi.
In line with safety starts with me culture, to ensure the LR Group HSE requirements are adhered to at all times.
In support of life-long learning, to dedicate time and effort in ensuring that appropriate knowledge, experience, competency and authorisations are gained, achieved and its relevance maintained up-to-date. This includes the requirements for monitoring, training, COA upgrades etc..

What you bring

A degree or equivalent from a tertiary organisation recognised by Lloyds Register within the relevant field of engineering or physical science (minimum of two years programme) or Qualifications from a marine or nautical institution and relevant sea-going experience as a certificated ships officer.
Membership of an appropriate professional institution.
Working towards or achieving charted or incorporated engineering status.
To work in accordance with professional codes of conduct and the LR Code of Ethics in IMS

  • To use a combination of general and specialist engineering knowledge and understanding to apply existing and emerging technology.
    To be able to apply appropriate theoretical and practical methods to design, develop, manufacture, construct, commission, operate and maintain engineering products, processes, systems and services.
    To provide technical and commercial management, e.g. project management, process management.
    Proficiency in the English language commensurate with the work.
