SUTD Graduate Merit Scholarship (SUTD-GEMS)

Purpose

The prestigious SUTD Graduate Merit Scholarship (SUTD-GEMS) is a talent development scheme which aims to attract young exceptional Singaporean graduates with an aptitude for teaching and research in technology & design, to embark on an academic career with SUTD by pursuing doctoral studies at top overseas Universities.

The scholarship will provide monthly stipend and allowances during the PhD Programme in the Host University, and envisages future employment in SUTD. The SUTD-GEMS is tenable for a period of up to 5 years.

Eligibility Criteria

• Singapore Citizen
• Singapore Permanent Resident may apply, but would have obtained Singapore Citizenship by the time of receiving the award
• has outstanding undergraduate academic records (at least a Bachelor's degree with 2ndUpper Honours)
• is applying / has accepted an offer to study / is currently pursuing their doctoral degree in a top overseas university

Application Process

The application process will take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete and we would advise that you have the following information ready to facilitate your application:

• Original Master's and/or Bachelor's degree, transcript and certificate in soft copies
• Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score report
• Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) score report
• Relevant supporting documents such as pre-prints of publications or conference proceedings (if any)
• Soft copy of your Identity Card or relevant pages in your Passport
• Research Statement of Objectives in soft copy

Short-listed applicants may be interviewed face-to-face, via Zoom or over the telephone.

Application for SUTD GEMS will close in February 2025.
