Risk Management Group (RMG) is responsible for the development and maintenance of risk management and internal control frameworks. We provide independent review and challenge to the business to ensure that appropriate balance is considered in risk/return decisions. In addition, RMG is responsible for the monitoring and reporting on key risk issues of the Bank. To manage risk effectively and deliver strong financial performance, we invest significantly in people and infrastructure.
Job Purpose
This role will assist the Chief Operating Officer (COO) in managing all the operational aspects of RMG in collaboration with the RMG heads and their COOs (or equivalent).
Responsibilities
- Drive and lead the preparation of overall RMG's annual budget and scorecard setting; and monitoring the performances regularly thereof
- Provide secretariat support to the Group Board Risk Committee (BRMC), Group BRMC Technology Risk Committee (BTRC) and Risk Executive Committee (Exco)
- Co-ordinate various updates and manage internal stakeholders and external regulators
- Provide leadership in the resolution of issues which span across the RMG units
- Manage independently ad-hoc initiatives set out by the CRO or COO
- Review financials, as well as track progress of the scorecard
- Provide secretariat support to the Group BRMC, BTRC and Risk Exco
- Co-ordinate with RMG units in the preparation of updates such as internal business reviews, engagement with regulators and external parties, annual report and disclosures
- Monitor key audit, inspection, and project related issues and work closely with the RMG units for prompt escalation and resolution where required; provide leadership in the resolution of issues spanning RMG units
- Lead Recovery and Resolution Planning (RRP); provide oversight across locations
- Work closely with RMG-Compliance Validation to ensure compliance to BCBS 239 requirements; provide guidance to RMG units
- Manage independently any other initiatives as directed by the CRO or COO
- Supervise and provide guidance to drive team performance
Requirements
- University degree or equivalent, with major study in Finance, Business Administration, Accountancy or Economics with 12 to 15 years of experience in financial institutions, preferably with exposure to middle office and risk functions
- Familiarity with Board or Management Committee secretariat, regulatory matters such as CRAFT and/or RRP requirements would be a plus
- Leadership/management skills with the ability to influence others
- Strong presentation and interpersonal skills
- Good project management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks
- Good knowledge of banking activities and operations
- Sharp analytical mind and the ability to identify issues and achieve timely resolution
