System Administrator

Job Title: Network/System Administrator (Full-Time)

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Network/System Administrator with a solid understanding of networks, and common software and concepts used in system administration. The ideal candidate will also have some familiarity with hypervisors such as VMWare or Proxmox, and some familiarity with Microsoft Entra and/or Active Directory systems.

Responsibilities:

1. Maintain and administer a managed network environment (including VLANs, LAGs, etc).
2. Deploy, manage, and facilitate the deployment of virtualised machines and servers with hypervisors such as VMWare or Proxmox.
3. Perform and implement data backups and disaster recovery plans and operations.
4. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, or other network and system problems, and replace defective components when necessary.
5. Schedule and perform maintenance, repair, and upgrade tasks as needed.
6. Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
7. Plan, coordinate, and implement user helpdesk and user IT policies.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree or diploma in Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field.
2. Experience as a Network/System Administrator, Network Engineer, or similar role.
3. Experience with hypervisors such as VMWare or Proxmox.
4. Experience with various servers and services often deployed as VM guests.
5. CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent experience/qualification. (Ideal, but not required)
6. Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model.
7. Equivalent experience from any personal project may also be acceptable. (eg: a personal home lab)
